Some people are funny about ski socks. Rightly so – the difference between a good ski holiday and one plagued by sore and miserable feet is quite often just down to these simple garments.

James is so weird about socks it’s not true. He managed to hide this quirk from me for nearly a year. He favours long socks, all year round, only giving into the convention of ankle socks when wearing shorts and that is very reluctantly.
